Pentago...
A fast and fun strategy game that is both simple and sophistcated at the same time. The object of the game is to create a row of five marbles, in any direction. But the mind twisting part is that you will also twist one of the four game blocks as part of your move. This causes the game board to constantly change, making for a perpetually challenging game experience, both for beginners and masters alike.

Probably the most important feature of the entire game is that it is far more than just a game, it’s a mini eccentric encyclopedia of useful information.
The educational value for GO mental® is a perfect score. The Toy Man review, Dec 2007.
Despite what you think you know about trivia games, this one's unique… The Steal and Challenge cards are brilliant innovations in themselves, adding significantly to the excitement of the game, keeping everyone involved regardless of whose turn it is. Bernie (Major Fun) DeKoven, October 2007.
There is nothing odd in this list: PLAY, FUN, LAUGH, LEARN. They all apply to GO mental! Verbatim: The Language Quarterly, Holiday 2005
We’ve just spent an entire weekend playing – and loving! – GO mental. We marvelled at the brilliance of the construction of the groups with the odd one out being tough at times but that adds to the fun and the amazement when the answer is read. Gloria Rosenthal, The Wonderful World of Words, November 2005.
The most reliable test about the potential success when it comes to games is: Will you want to play this game over and over with friends and family? That often boils down to the ability to engage everyone playing, even when it isn’t their turn. GO mental is one of the best games we’ve seen at doing exactly that. The National Parenting Center, Holiday ’04.

The Game Invented on the seat of a tractor! Fresh from the country. So much fun, some people say it's the best game they've ever played, others call it addictive. This international award-wining game has sold hundreds of thousands of copies. So educational, it has been used by homeschoolers and thousands of schools around the world. So realistic, World Bank had it translated into Russian to assist farm privatization.
Warning: This family game is so much fun it may become habit-forming!
|
NAQ, pronounced "Knack"...
A FUN and EASY game where you play the players. NAQ is unlike themed board games, which usually leave one or two players feeling left out because they lack enthusiasm or knowledge for the particular theme. In NAQ, the theme is the players and their unique knowledge and interests. This one-of-a-kind game experience allows you to mix players of any age or background with everyone having an equal chance of winning!
NAQ is a timeless game that will last forever. Every game is different and fresh, because there are no pre-written, outdated or repeat questions. Whether it’s your turn or not, you’re always involved in the action!

Since 1889 the Carrom Company has given us entertainment for young & old. From games of strategy & skill to just plain fun, Carrom was a part of American family life for our grandparents and will be around for our grandchildren. Henry Haskell, creator of the Carrom Board, was alarmed about the boys loafing around pool rooms. Ironically, the company later manufactured pool tables.
The Carrom Company grew & prospered until the late 1920's & the Great Depression. The company kept going only because of determination to maintain as much employment as possible during a difficult time!

Mission Statement... HL Games is a Chicago-based, independent board game publisher dedicated to producing high quality, intelligent and exhilarating games with a focus on a unique combination of entertainment and education that we call “edutainment™”. Designed to engage all ages from 8 to 108, our games blend humor with strategy, creativity with play, and laughter with learning to provide both quality playtime and good old-fashioned fun. Whatever the occasion, whether it’s for family or friends, for children or adults, for game enthusiasts or educators, HL Games’ award-winning games give everyone a turn for the better. Company History - =
Our first game was created in the mid-80’s by two very bored guys sitting in a trading room intent solely on proving how clever they were. Like most folks engaged in self-centered activities, they thought the rest of the world would love it. It didn’t. Simply being clever was simply not enough. Never was, never will be.
The vision became HL Games, formed on April Fools Day 2003.
Since then, we’ve worked very hard to bring you quality games that teach without trying, that educate while entertaining so you can learn while laughing. We’ve tried to make infectious our love of knowledge, our passion for challenge and our fervent belief that competition in a healthy social setting engenders a tolerance for human foibles that will withstand the most bigoted ignorance and cure it with healthy doses of informed and objective thought. Oh, and underpinning the lofty ideals, was the requirement that our games also be plain, old FUN!
Tell us your visions for quality play in a world plagued by mediocrity and reproduction. You are what makes HL Games – A turn for the better!™

The game bagatelle evolved from efforts to bring outdoor games, such as croquet and shuffleboard, inside and atop tables. History records the existence of table-based games back to the 15th Century, and a 17th-century table is preserved in the Great Hall at Hatfield House. While some games took the wickets of croquet and turned them into the side-rail pockets of modern pocket billiards, some tables became smaller and had the holes placed in strategic areas in the middle of the table.
In France, during the reign of King Louis XIV, someone took a billiard table and narrowed it, placing the pins at one end of the table while making the player shoot balls with a stick or cue from the other end. Pins took too long to reset when knocked down, so the pins eventually became fixed to the table, and holes took the place of targets. Players could ricochet the ball off the pins to achieve the harder, higher-scoring holes.
In 1777 a party was thrown in honor of the Louis XVI and the Queen at the Château de Bagatelle, recently erected at great expense by the king's brother, the Count of Artois. Bagatelle from Italian bagattella, signifies a trifle, a decorative thing. The highlight of the party was a new table game featuring the slender table and cue sticks, which players used to shoot ivory balls up an inclined play field. The table game was dubbed "Bagatelle" by the Count and shortly after swept through France.
"Bagatelle" in this sense made its debut in English in 1819 (OED), its dimensions soon standardized at 7 feet by 21 inches. Bagatelle spread and became so popular in America as well that a political cartoon from 1863 depicts President Abraham Lincoln playing a tabletop bagatelle game.
